Swaddle guide
How to swaddle with Swoop Baby
Swaddling is an ancient child care practice and one of the most effective ways to calm a newborn's central nervous system when done right.

Benefits of swaddling your baby
A calming effect, mimicking the feeling of being in the womb
Reduced startle reflex and disruptive awakenings
Enhanced sleep continuity, promoting a smoother transition between sleep cycles
Improved sleep quality, promoting longer, more consolidated sleep
Reduction in colic symptoms, the gentle pressure and containment soothes babies
Promotion of self soothing by providing a consistent and comforting sleep environment
Safe sleep environment, it promotes back sleeping and reduces risk of SIDS
How to swaddle in five easy steps
Step 1 of 5
Lay out the blanket
Lay the blanket on a flat surface and fold the top edge down about 20cm. Place your baby in the middle with their shoulders aligned with the fold and arms straight down by their sides.
Step 2 of 5
Wrap the first side
Take the top left corner of the blanket and pull it tightly over the baby's arm and chest, tucking the edge snugly under their back.
Step 3 of 5
Wrap the second side
Next, take the top right corner of the blanket and pull it tightly over the baby's other arm and chest, wrapping the blanket securely under and around the baby.
Step 4 of 5
Bring up the bottom
Bring the bottom of the blanket up towards the baby's body, wrapping it around each side while ensuring your baby can still comfortably bend and move their legs.
Step 5 of 5
Back to sleep
Remember to always place your baby on their back to sleep, which helps reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
